Samira wanted to see what Jey had up their sleeve. I was against the idea - I'd already blindly trusted one alien spy, and I'd learned my lesson too well to try for a repeat. But Sam could be real persuasive. There was always an intensity in her, a seething heat like a woodstove burning hot enough to make you worry about a chimney fire, but this... this was different. I had never seen her blazing like this. It takes a lot to shake me, but the look in Sam's eye was making me nervous as hell. Sam followed trouble like a flood following a hurricane. I had a feeling I was about to get in way over my head.
